To Ron’s right is his wife, Debbie.  To Ron’s left is his daughter, Abby, who is currently a professor of mathematics at a university in California.  Ron’s son, Nate, is in a wheelchair in the foreground; Nate is a graduate of Gonzaga University and has a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern California.

Left to right: Ron's daughter Abby and son Nate. Both are graduates of Richland High School and Columbia Basin College via the Running Start program. While at Richland, Abby competed in cross country and track, running in the state cross country meet and the regional track meet; and Nate competed in cross country, wrestling, soccer, and track. Nate was the captain of his cross country and wrestling teams his senior year and participated in the regional track meet.  Photo taken in April 2013.
Left to right: Ron's wife Debbie and Ron on the campus of the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles during April 2013 for a "Swim with Mike" award presentation. Ron and Debbie are standing in front of a picture of their son, Nate, who was a recipient of a "Swim with Mike" scholarship. "Swim with Mike" is a program to provide scholarships to disabled athletes; it is named in honor of Mike Nyeholt, a USC swimmer who became paralyzed when he suffered a spinal-cord injury. Ron's son Nate fell off a roof in 2004 soon after graduating from Richland High School, breaking his back and fracturing his skull. Despite his accident, Nate has earned a BS in Business from Gonzaga University, an MS in Labor Relations from Capella University, and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Southern California; has swum across the Columbia River, across Lake Pend Oreille, from Alcatraz to San Francisco, and across the Golden Gate by San Francisco; and has represented the US as a swimmer in the Para-Pan-American Games in 2011.

Note Ron flaunting his "bi-partisanship" by wearing a WSU hat with a UW sweatshirt while standing on the campus of USC, a perennial athletic rival of both UW and WSU.
Ron Higgins' daughter, Abby, with Ron Higgins in Colfax, Washington, at the site of the Pac-12 Cross-Country Championship in 2015.  Abby was a WSU mathematics instructor at the time, and two of her students represented WSU in the chamipionship race.  While in high school, Abby represented the Richland High School Bombers in the state cross country meet and in the regional track meet.  She earned her PhD in Mathematics Education at WSU Pullman and is currently a professor of mathematics at a university in California. Although obtaining a master of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Washington, Ron is obviously also a fan of WSU.
